Meet Joe Gambino, Embedded Software Engineer at Poseidon Systems, LLC. Originally from the New York City area, he moved to Rochester to earn his B.S in Computer Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Joe has been working at Poseidon for the past 3 years. He’s currently working on our next-generation firmware for the Trident AP2200 with support for Bluetooth sensors.

What would you tell your 13 year old self?

I would tell myself to be a bit more outgoing and less soft-spoken about my own interests. The best choice I made in life was based on taking an opportunity that knocked, so I hope that I would have taken some opportunities that I may not have even realized I missed.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet and why?

I would want to meet Steven Hawking. His contributions to science are incredible and I feel a person with his perspective on life must have a lot to offer anyone they meet.

What would you do, for a career, if you weren’t doing this?

I would probably be a teacher. I like working with kids, and I love the fulfillment that comes with seeing someone succeed at something you’ve helped them learn to do.

What about Poseidon Systems excites you the most?

Poseidon Systems gave me the opportunity to be involved in the early stages of a growing company. The work is challenging, and I often get to do things that few people have done before. I get to learn something new every day and help Poseidon reduce costs in various important industries.
